In the latest SA Student Social Media Report, internet usage through cell-phones was the highest amongst students, showing that 78% go online via mobile devices, followed closely by 74% who access the internet from campus, typically in the computer labs.
What makes the cell phone usage really remarkable is that internationally this figure sits at around 17% for all Internet users, according to independent research.
South Africa has some of the cheapest data costs in the world and 3G rivals ADSL in terms of both speed and price, which could explain this percentage and it shows that South African students are using their cell phones to access the Internet almost 5 times that of the world average.

Also interesting; students are spending 96 minutes online DAILY via PC and 67 minutes via their cell phones.
