Brands that dig us:

According to the latest SA Student Spending Report, making a difference actually motivated students the most (43%), followed by a challenge (30%), and only then money (14%). Friends and family were a paltry 9%. So, consider this the next time you are busy designing your next youth campaign.

Instead of giving out money and hoping for results, why not issue a challenge or give them an opportunity to make a difference. A brilliant illustration of this is Rockcorps, an international organisation that harnesses the power of music to inspire young volunteers and rewards them by producing concerts which the only way in is to give via charity. RockCorps has inspired more than 60,000 volunteers to give back with more than 450 charity and non-profit partners in the US, Europe and Israel. All of the volunteering events are done in partnership with and for the benefit of local charities. South African students are crying for something just like this!
