Guys are SPENDING 15% more than Girls. But they are not always spending more across all categories, according to the SA Student Spending Report

  • Guys spend 20% more on food & groceries than ladies
  • Guys spend 121% more on alcohol than ladies
  • Guys spend 15% more on telephone costs than ladies
  • Ladies spend 70% more on gifts for friends than guys
  • Ladies spend 45% more on toiletries and cosmetics than guys
  • Guys spend 238% more on condoms than ladies

     




As can be seen, guys are taking the lead in buying contraception. Interestingly, according to the retailers on campus, students don't buy cheap condoms. So even though their average spend per month is relatively low compared to other items, they prefer buying expensive condom brands like Durex.
