The Sunday Times Generation Next awards 2011 have awarded the best youth brand to BlackBerry (previously Coca Cola). Not only that, but BlackBerry were awarded the coolest cellphone to have; coolest hi-tech gadget and best cellphone application (BBM).

BlackBerry successfully launched its smart phones into the SA student market using a multi-channel approach that included brand ambassadors, eye-popping media, campus music events, and online and mobile channels. In the process, Student Village facilitated the creation and ownership of the ‘Spoken Word’ movement on and off campus for BlackBerry. See the case study here.
This is what BlackBerry had to say:
“We were desperate for a youth plan and you delivered it on a silver platter.” - Tricia Willis, Client Service Director, Idea Engineers
“A big thank-you to you all for all the hard work and effort Student Village have put into marketing and promoting BlackBerry amongst the youth market over the past 18 months. I think you can give yourselves a big pat on the back as you certainly played a role in BlackBerry receiving this award. Well done and thank-you for your commitment to this brand.” - Leanne Emery, Account Director, Idea Engineers
Student Village – thank you for delivering on your promise and giving and sharing the amazing insight you had in to campuses - Ulanova Visser, Head of Channel Marketing: Sub Sahara Africa for RIM
