Festive Season Marketing: DO's and DON'Ts

Do you want to connect with the youth this festive season? If the answer is “yes” then you and your brand are going to have to be mobile to catch their eye.
December and January are the months when the youth come out to play, mostly along South Africa’s coastline. From Camp’s Bay to Umhlanga, students will be living it up, working on that tan and partying like every night is New Year’s Eve. Moving around the country at break neck speed, they’ll be heading for the hottest, trendiest spots to claim bragging rights for the best holiday.

Student Village, youth marketing specialists, has put together the ultimate solution to keep brands in touch with the youth during the festive season. It is the perfect combination of “on-the-move” media that incorporates the latest in vehicle branding, targeted online exposure and branded beach promoter teams. All of this is designed to connect and make impact.

Ronen Aires, South African entrepreneur and managing director of Student Village, says “We have partnered with Graffiti to bring the very latest vehicle branding option to South Africa, the ‘Top and Tail’. This form of branding includes an illuminated lightbox on top of the car with a rear-branded window.” Ronen goes on to say that this is a very effective form of mobile media that goes wherever the student goes and is guaranteed to increase the exposure of brands over the holiday period.
The beach promoter teams will take on the most popular beaches for a student’s summer holiday, including Camp’s Bay, Clifton and Ballito. Each promoter team will spend a day at these beaches connecting you and your brand with the youth through a tailor-made activation.

And to top it all off, there will be extensive online coverage at www.studentvillage.co.za, South Africa’s largest student social networking site. Students will be logging on to see photos of themselves and their friends and to stay in the loop regarding where the next hot party will be happening.
Ronen says that South Africans may be licking their wounds from the recession and budgetary constraints, but this does not put an end to consumption. Students have been saving all year for another holiday blitz. Make sure your brand is there to help them make summer 2009 the one to remember.
